Timber Frame House in Little Harbour, Nova Scotia

Nova Scotia Home Designers Heritage Timber FrameAssociation, Ideal Home Show, Peoples Choice Award, Heritage Timber Frame with Tree Staircase in 2009.

The Timber Frame home design revolved around an environmental green theme utilizing a reclaimed heritage barn and a whimsical staircase.Peoples Choice Award for Heritage Timber Frame with Tree Staircase

Spaces were created for music, celebrations and multiple gathering spaces inside and out. The sloped property allowed for a daylight level, housing the children's bedrooms and recreation area. The main feature of the house is the great room with sweeping arches gracing the ceiling. Musicians have described it as acoustically wonderful with no echoes.

The free form balcony reaches into the great room allowing people to experiece the catherdral area from within. A tree with soaring branches was found and incorporated for the staircase structure. The natural style staircase winds up through the branches from the basement to the fourth level loft.

Outside there is hinting tease of something special inside; the balcony facing the harbor invites one into the outdoor living spaces on three levels.
