A Timber Frame addition to an existing home provided a room for the enjoyment of music. There were a number of parameters to consider; height of existing structure, acoustic performace, view planes, driveway access and control of snow or rain. In forming the design multiple uses of the space were considered. The transitional breezeway was designed to connect the two area, forming the main entrance to the home (instead of through the kitchen), as well as a sunroom sitting area. Aesthetic appeal of the building from the outside was kept in mind; a piece of the existing siding was taken for color analysis and matching. The window size, style and locations were chosen for both their exterior balance as well as the views they created from the inside.

The Oak Timber Frame freatures a modified hammer beam style created with scissor trusses, thus forming a cozier space while maintaining the soaring ceiling. The sitting loft, while creating additional space, gives the opportunity of experiencing the cathedral area. A high attention to detail was selected and is apparent in the window trim, craftsman - style elm stairs and handcrafted elm doors. The Timber Frame structure was raised in one day. Two days later the building was weather tight with pre-built roof and walls.
